Another Flood

We had another massive storm last night. If you were watching opening day baseball game you saw some of it.

This time our power stayed on, but the sump pump could not keep up.  In a way we are lucky repairs from the storm of a few weeks ago were not yet done, as they would have been in vain.

We have had several drainage and erosion contractors here in the past few days. We have some ideas to improve drainage and increase pumping capacity. None of them involve removing the Aquia Line. But if these measures don't work, we may have to strip the basement and install a whole new drainage system.

  1. A friend of mine went through a flooding problem. He contacted a number of contractors who said the layout had to come out but my friend told him no. He did eventually find a contractor who would do it with the railroad in place. Look for that guy.

    1. Yes, so far that hasn't been proposed. But if we invest $25K in improved drainage and power supply measures and they don't work, we have to consider giving up. My neighbor three doors down spent nearly $50K on 6 pumps, he has a 25KW generator, and a new exterior diversion ditch, etc. Last night he got 3 feet of water in his basement.
